His limbs ached and his head was spinning and he wanted to sit down more than anything, more than a hot meal or a jacket and gloves or anything else his body cried for. A night bus rolled up to the station he was standing in, waiting for the wind to die down. The bus driver shouted over the roar of the engine and the black noise of traffic, but when the young man glanced up hopefully from his worn tennis shoes, the destination was wrong.
